In 1916 E. C. Brown was born in Bakersfield, California. After graduating with honours from the University of California, Berkley, he pursued studies in Economics at Berkley and latter at the Harvard University. But the World War II had interrupted his studies, and Brown served as an economist at the War Production Board in 1940-41. From 1942 to 1947 he served as an economist at the Division of Tax Research at the US Treasury Department. In 1948 he received his PhD in Economics from Harvard. Cary Brown was a leading expert on fiscal policy and the economics of taxation. He was a member of the MIT economics faculty for more than 60 years, and a visiting professor at Yale and the University of Chicago as well. Brown was also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. After his retirement from MIT in 1986, he served as an Emeritus Professor until his death.

What a wonderful thing that a divine Incarnation should have attained to the highest realization of God as Divine Mother at a time when women all over the world were struggling for emancipation ! Is it difficult to believe that the incarnation on earth of this great advocate of womanhood should have given their cause a powerful impetus ?17
